Field extension services

Agronomy Support

Field extension, climate-smart practices and input subsidies.

New KPCU recognises agricultural extension as an essential pillar of the production process. Our extension officers work directly with farmers and cooperatives to support improved coffee productivity, climate resilience and quality enhancement — turning good farms into great ones, season after season.

Three pillars of farmer support

Our extension model is delivered through three connected pillars — building farmer knowledge, strengthening climate resilience, and building cooperative capacity from the ground up.

Farmer training & sensitisation

Training is delivered through regular sessions and field days, awareness meetings and demonstrations, demonstration plots and lead farmers, visual charts and farm visits, and the development of training manuals and translated farmer guides. Training areas cover best agronomic practices, pest and disease management, post-harvest handling, quality-improvement techniques, and financial literacy and farm management.

Climate-smart agriculture & technology adoption

We promote practical adaptation strategies — mulching and shade management, inter-cropping and diversification, water conservation, soil-health improvement and climate-resilient varieties — alongside modern pruning techniques, optimal harvesting methods, digital tools for production monitoring, weather-update systems and market-linkage platforms.

Cooperative capacity building & input subsidy

We work with cooperative leaders to build governance capacity and improve internal controls, promote transparent post-harvest handling and value retention at the society level, and facilitate leadership training and management-skills development. Through the coffee farm inputs subsidy programme, New KPCU coordinates the supply and distribution of subsidised farm inputs to lower the cost of production for farmers.
